Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign on late Saturday slammed Rudy Giuliani’s plans to travel to Ukraine, which have now been cancelled.

A campaign official responded in a statement to CNN: “It’s great to see all these strong progressive voices stand up to this attempt at a blatantly political smear which in and of itself reflects the urgent need for change and to restore the soul of the country.”

Trump lawyer Giuliani sparked a firestorm last week when he told the New York Times that he was headed to Ukraine to push its government into investigating Hunter Biden’s business links in the country.

While insisting that there was “nothing illegal about it,” Giuliani said that the information “will be very, very helpful to my client.”

On Friday, Giuliani announced on Fox News that he wasn’t going to Ukraine after all. Inventing a bizarre conspiracy, Giuliani claimed the meeting was a “setup.”
