Attorney General said Thursday evening that the Justice Department prosecutor conducting a review of torture of detainees by the CIA, which was launched last August, is “close to the end of the time that he needs and will be making some recommendations to me,” Main Justice reports.

The prosecutor, John Durham, has been tasked with reviewing whether there is enough evidence to launch a full investigation of whether CIA officers broke laws in treatment CIA. Durham has been conducting the review, which has been criticized as too narrow in scope, quietly for the past 10 months.

As Holder explained last night after a speech at a law school in Washington:

“It’s a question of whether people went beyond those pretty far-out OLC opinions, people who went beyond that. That’s what we’re looking at.”
