For the birther-curious of California still licking their wounds from patron saint Orly Taitz’s proud but insufficient showing in the state’s Senate primary, fear not, your champion has arrived.

With approximately 1,000 absentee ballots left to count from the June 5 election, official San Diego County results show attorney and “bithermercial” star Gary Kreep ahead of former prosecutor Garland Peed in the race for a seat on the San Diego Superior Court by 1,569 votes, an apparently insurmountable lead.

Kreep came to national prominence on the back of late-night TV commercials questioning President Obama’s birthplace and has led numerous legal challenges to his eligibility for office. He also recently represented a Marine discharged for disparaging the president on Facebook.

U-T San Diego reports Kreep will serve a six-year term, earning $178,789 a year.

“Look, a lot of people may disagree with the cases I take,” he said, according to the U-T. “But there are a lot of people who admire me for taking on those same cases.”
