Soledad O’Brien, the former CNN morning host who gained some prominence during the 2012 election for her tough interviews, will join Al Jazeera America as a special correspondent, the network announced Monday.

In her capacity at the network, O’Brien will produce segments for the news magazine program “America Tonight” as well as hour-long documentaries.

“I look forward to beginning a relationship with Al Jazeera America, which has made a commitment to producing quality programming and pursuing underreported stories,” O’Brien said in a statement, according to Politico.

O’Brien left CNN earlier this year as part of the struggling cable news network’s reshuffling.
