The Senate Conservatives Fund sent state Sen. Chris McDaniel’s (R-MS) legal fund $70,000 on Tuesday in an effort to boost the state senator’s quest to fight the results of the runoff election for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

That $70,000 is most of the $90,000 the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) had raised (as of Tuesday morning) to help McDaniel, according to Yahoo News, which first reported the cash infusion. McDaniel is hoping to overturn the results of the runoff, which Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) won.

Recently, SCF started a fundraising drive to help McDaniel. At first their goal was about $50,000 but the group raised the cap to $100,000.

McDaniel and his supporters have been poring over poll books seeking to find enough examples of invalid votes to contest the runoff election.

On Monday McDaniel’s lawyer claimed that the state senator’s campaign and volunteers had found “thousands” of examples of ineligible voters.
