Sen. Michael Crapo (R-ID) was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving in Alexandria, Va., according to CBS News.
The senator was reportedly pulled over after a patrol officer saw him run a red light. According to CBS, the officer gave Crapo roadside sobriety tests and then arrested him without trouble.
Crapo apologized for the arrest late Sunday in a statement released by his office.
Officials with the Alexandria Police Department did not immediately respond to TPM’s request for comment.
