Clint Eastwood reflected on his memorable Republican National Convention appearance in an interview Friday, saying that lecturing an empty chair meant to represent President Obama probably seemed “odd” at the time.

“But, you know, I’m an odd person,” he said in a CNBC interview that aired Friday. Eastwood added that he wasn’t surprised by the reactions he got after the appearance.

“One thing about getting into the senior status of life, like I am, you don’t really care,” he said. “You just say what you say, and then you get away with it.”
