Al Gore met with President-elect Donald Trump and future first daughter Ivanka Trump on Monday for what he described as an “extremely interesting conversation.”

Gore was originally scheduled to meet with Ivanka Trump to discuss climate change, the former Democratic presidential candidate’s signature cause.

Transition spokesman Jason Miller told reporters on a conference call earlier Monday morning that Donald Trump was not scheduled to meet with Gore, but Gore told reporters that he spent “the bulk of the time” with the President-elect after meeting with Ivanka Trump.

Gore said that he and the President-elect had a “lengthy and very productive session,” according to a transition pool report.

“It was a sincere search for areas of common ground,” he said as quoted in the report. “I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I’m just going to leave it at that.”

The President-elect claimed in 2012 that climate change was a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese government in order to undercut the American economy. He later called this claim a “joke.”
