Good morning and happy Friday. Both the House and Senate will meet only briefly today for pro-forma sessions. Here’s what’s on TPM editors’ radar today.

12:45 p.m. President Trump has his annual physical exam at Walter Reed Medical Center before heading to Mar-a-Lago for the weekend.

And the clock is ticking. If Republicans don’t corral enough votes, the government will shut down next week.

Stories in progress:

We’ll be following the fallout from the President’s declaration that we need fewer immigrants from “sh*thole countries.” Caitlin MacNeal has a roundup this morning of Republican condemnation of (and, in some cases, support for) the President’s comments.

And reporter Allegra Kirkland will continue to closely follow developments relating to allegations of blackmail against Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. We broke the news yesterday that the woman he was having an affair with has said he slapped her when she told him that she had had sex with her husband.
