TPM is hiring a junior front end developer to work either remotely or out of our New York City (Chelsea) office. (We have a strong preference for someone who can work out of our New York office but will consider applications for working remote as well.) TPM produces fast paced, iterative news and we are seeking another developer to help build and support the technologies that will power our future digital publishing platform.
As a front end developer the breadth of your responsibilities will introduce you to many aspects of the digital publishing pipeline:
* Develop and ship valuable features and functionality that support our editorial processes
* Design and implement UI/UX enhancements that improve the overall reader experience
* Design and build the interactive advertising products that help drive revenue
Areas of knowledge important to this position include:
* Strong understanding of Javascript (ideally with ES6 experience)
* Facebook’s ReactJS library (and associated concepts)CSS and preprocessor technologies (LESS/SCSS)
* Experience building modular Javascript applications (a solid understanding of user interface design principles and knowledge of CSS3/HTML5 is also expected)
* (Bonus) Ruby/Rails experience (you’re responsibilities wont require Ruby understanding but it would be an asset)
We are a small team building big things and so we’re in need of developers with top-notch organizational skills. Over time you’ll grow to assist in maintaining/curating a clean, elegant code base that will be a pleasure to work on.

Competitive salary for the first year of a junior developer is $50-55k and includes health insurance coverage, 401(k) options, and three weeks paid vacation per year.
