Annals Of The Hive
Overheard around the Hive.
The difference between bombing a black church and what Bill Ayers did is the difference between committing hate crimes and anti-authoritary violence.
The former is a pogrom against the weakest segments of society by the top dogs. The latter is a political statement and defiance by guerrillas against the all-powerful, abusive State juggernaut.
They are polar opposites in terms of ideological and political spectrum and magnitude.
Think of the "'terror" inflicted by the Fascists against Jews and the "terror" inflicted by the Resistance against the Nazis. Both resorted to instruments of violence, but their relative positions of power vis a vis their targets makes all the difference between those whose deeds we condemn as nihilistic murder or applaud as heroic antics.
What percentage of the Democratic Party do you think would agree with that statement?

Which of the several statements in your post are you referring to?

OK as a 60's rabid anti- war protester who was not a member of SDS or the Weather Underground I found nor find either acceptable. To me one was/is a hate crime while the other in my view went against my anti-violence beliefs and was counter productive to our goals in the 60s and early 70s.
On a further note while I may not have agreed or condoned what Ayres and his associates did I am not going to judge him by those acts alone. I tend to look at the whole of ones life and not individual parts to make my judgments. I have known or do know people have may have not lead stellar lives early on, but have since gone on to do some rather admirable things.

Jsfox was not only a hippy, back in the day... He was the original inspiration for the character "Meathead" on All in the Family.
Jsfox is so non-judgemental about people who "may not have lead stellar lives" that most of his friends are former White Supremacists whose favorite pass-time was bombing black churches, back in the day.
Jsfox does not judge his former White Supremacist buddies "by those acts alone," since some of them have "gone on to do some rather admirable things."
One of them quit smoking, and one of them graduated from high school.

Sorry Billy, I guess that this is what you are looking for:
"Oh no! Someone said that fighting Nazis and the Weatherman bombing the Pentagon are the same thing! Obama drank from the same water fountain as Bill Ayers, so he must want to bomb the Pentagon, too!"
There, that make you feel better?

Wow, you heard a defense of Ayers around the Hive? Ignorant.
Have you seen this doc about the Weather Underground? (You need to be at least 18—both chronologically and mentally—to view it.)

LOL. That's a direct quote in the post. And look at the Hivers on this thread. The simple fact is these people actually think Ayers was some kind of hero. The guy participated in the murder of policemen, but the Chicago liberal community rehabilitated his reputation. The Chicago Annenberg Challenge funded projects that will eventually be shown to be brainwashing on the level of Trinity United sermons.
