Has McCain already started a new arms race?
McCain's saber-rattling rhetoric about Georgia has already riled up the Kremlin, which is now claiming -- implausibly -- that the US egged Georgia, on in order to start a war that would help McCain's campaign.
I think this may just be one part of a disturbing pattern. Today we hear that Vladimir Putin is claiming credit for saving a Russian TV crew by shooting a Siberian tiger with a tranquillizer gun.
The Russian leader's fragile machismo is notorious, and it's pretty clear that once again he has been rattled by the McCain campaign's bellicose and attention-hogging antics.
Where will this arms race end? How should the Obama-Biden campaign respond?

Sorry about the misplaced comma. It should be "egged Georgia on, in order to . . ."

I don't understand why you think Putin's claims are not true. Certainly, nothing benefits McCain more than the opportunity to look like he's the CIC when he's just a warmonger.

I think you are reading too much into it. The tiger was threatening Russian nationals so Putin was forced to employ a peace-keeping dart.

Means nothing that Rove was in Yalta in June? That McCain advisor Randy Scheunemann is a paid lobbyist for Georgia? That Saakashvili asked for a response from McCain?
It's perhaps worse than simply intemperate talk.
