Gallup and Rasmussen Only.
If we must, as Democrats, wring our hands and lose sleep over national polling, let's at least do it consistently. I deeply respect this website but I am tired of logging on to find that (gasp!) Obama's lead has disappeared. The CBS poll showing a 42-42 tie uses a sample only a fraction of either the the Gallup or Rasmussen polls which show Obama maintaining his lead, day in and day out, over the last week. The Repubs may well get a bounce from their convention, but what really matters is the state of the race in the 14 battleground states.

Thank you for injecting some sense into the discussion. Polls get touted as being all equal, but their methodologies and sample sizes vary considerably. Thus, the results are not truly equal.
Poll interpretation is not simple. But polls, especially the bad ones, get used in a simple way, because they are a way of building self-affirming narrative. You know, the same narrative that Peggy Noonan herself referred to as "bullshit" just yesterday.

Yes, thank you. I can sleep tonight now. Seriously. My stomach did a flip flop when I saw that headline.
