Democratic Party Cannibalism

My sister, the president of the women's club in her town in Ohio, has voted for a Democrat only three times in her 70 years. She voted for Bill Clinton - twice (and took a lot of heat for it from her friends), and this year she voted for Hillary Clinton. No other Democrat has impressed her to the point of wooing her away from her Republican loyalties.

She was deeply disappointed when Hillary lost and realized that she would be going back to the Republican Party and would vote for McCain. But Hillary spoke to her: "Did you do it just for me?" Hillary asked. Lois, my sister, wrote me and said, "You know, she made a good point. I WAS doing it for her, but she made me realize that I needed to cast my vote for the right candidate and for the right reasons, so I am now trying to figure out who I should vote for. I think it is going to be for Obama." A few weeks later, Lois told me something else - that it was going to be very hard for her to vote for Obama even though she realized he was the best for the job, because she did not like his supporters one bit. I quote: "They are rude. They are mean. They are unfair. And they are zealots." Yep, that's OUR Democratic Party. Sounds familiar to those of us who have been around awhile. We ARE rude - to each other! We ARE mean, usually to each other. We can be very unfair - to each other. And yes, ZEALOTRY r US! So I read posts about how Bill Clinton is not sufficiently zealous in his slavish devotion to the candidacy of Barack Obama. My sister (as well as you) understands why he is not. Do you really believe for one second that Bill Clinton will vote for anyone else BUT Obama? C'mon! But, hey, let's trash the man - our last President of any worth - for his tepid support. And while we are at it, let's throw a few dozen more trash words at his wife. Oh, and by the way, "Obama-Biden 08!!!!" My sister reads this website. (I wish I had not told her about it, but I did.) How do you think she feels when she reads these trashy posts about her ONLY Democratic heroes? Does her vote not matter? In Ohio, for heaven's sake? Well then, how about her vote AND the votes of the members of her club, and her family and their families? In Ohio? Ya gotta love the Democratic Party! A political party of amateurs and greenhorns that eat not just its young, but its old and its newly converted as well.

I would bet a week's pay Hillary AND Bill will pull the lever for McCain. A hidden camera shot of their vote would be worth millions for the tabloids.

I have no idea why only the first paragraph of my post appeared when I originally posted it. The first comment contains the complete post. Sorry.

Did you cut and paste it from Word? You have to type directly into the box TPM provides.

I don't disagree and it is why I didn't join the democratic party when I decided to stop being an independent and pick a side.

However, I think your sister needs to make up her mind based on Obama and not some of his supporters, usually the most idiotic being the most vocal. Sounds like she has done that in the past as the Clintons democratic supporters are no less rude than some of Obama's.

Making one's mind up based on the random comments of a couple hundred political junkies doesn't make much sense to me.

Correction: Some of Bill and Hillary's supporters are no less rude than some of Obama's.

I was going to post about the blankity blankity blankness of the republicans. But I have been thinking a lot about Obama as the person I want to be president. I have a lot of respect for Obama. I really appreciate his calmness and willingness to work with people that disagree with him. I saw him on 60 minutes talking about getting people in a room and having them come to an agreement. His face lit up and he was waving his hands around - he REALLY, truely does like that. I want to be more like him - I think that is how things are going to change. So I'm not going to write about the republican or the Clintons. But I am going to say to your sister that we all can talk, should talk and will talk and the other side is just as ugly but I am going to keep my eyes on the prize and vote for Obama.

i would bet my life that hillary and bill c will cast that vote for mccain.....

hillary asked a very important question "are you doing this for me?" if you are doing it b/c of the issues and policies, then mccain is not your man...if an obama supporter offends you, my advice is to develop a backbone!!! hillary's supporters were never nice....if you devoted your time equally between pro obama and pro hillay websites, you would agree that zealots hail from both sides..if my zeal offends you then you are not casting that vote for right reasons...

mccain and palin offend me on all fronts and i am certain i will not like their supporters one bit, but at the end of the day, i am casting that vote against mccain/palin not against fellow voters who happen to be republicans...in the end, we all screwed if we vote in another idiot for president....

NOT RECOMMENDED!! too much whining not enough substance to back it up....for good measure, i am equally certain that the clintons will be voting for mccain as you are sure they will not....it is their right...i just pray enough of us put "country first" (mcain) to drown out the jealous, bitter, chip on the shoulder fake dems!!
