NYT: McCain in a bubble

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/10/us/politics/10mccain.html?_r=2&hp=&oref=slogin&pagewanted=all&oref=slogin

This is encouraging for any future world leader:

"Senator John McCain is so quick to pick up his gold-colored cellphone to solicit advice — from senators, campaign consultants, even the stray former deputy press secretary — that aides, concerned about his tendency to adopt the last opinion he has heard, have tried to cut back on the time he has to make calls."

A lobbyist's dream candidate.

Is it just me, or are the big news publications actually starting to catch on to McCain's issues and problems? Honestly, if they are, and this is just the start, then McCain is going to get it bad.

... One can hope.

IIRC, this is the same problem (adopting the last opinion heard) that Bush has.

More parallels...

The NY Times relies a lot on anonymous sources, I noticed.

Did you actually read the "article"? It is the most transparent Maveric McWarhero puff piece I have had the displeasure of reading recently.

Allow me to demonstrate. Emphases mine:

In an interview, Mr. McCain said he believed an organization consisting of sometimes colliding centers of power made sure that a candidate, or a president, reached fully informed decisions. “You’ve got to have competing opinions,” he said.
But if Mr. McCain’s management style has kept him well informed and flexible, ...
While he avidly seeks advice and contrary opinions, he routinely resists basic political counseling, ...
His management of his campaign offers a glimpse of how he might run the White House. He would, it appears, be a president who is intensely interested in issues (particularly foreign affairs) and open to conflicting opinions, ...
Mr. McCain’s leadership of his campaign suggests a less hierarchical, more free-form style, much closer to that of President Bill Clinton.
Mr. McCain seems to draw much of his management philosophy from his military experience.
But unlike Mr. Bush or Mr. Clinton, Mr. McCain has displayed no particular interest in or knowledge of the minutiae of politics.

Etc., etc.

It was a puff piece, but it gave ENORMOUS insight into how electing McCain would be detrimental to our country.

I have said the same thing about my grandmother many times in the last few years. Her reason was early stages of Alzheimers, she wasn't like that when she was younger. I wonder if McCain has the same problem?

Look for yourself and decide.

I made a post a month or two ago called Ageism and McCain's Senence.  It contains a link to a video which includes some footage of McFeeble from four years ago.

Watch it and tell us if you notice a big difference between the McCranky of then and now.

Why does the New York Times hate John McCain so?

The kneejerk answer by Obama supporters is, "They endorsed him!" yeah, and the NY Post endorsed Obama during the primaries. Go look at the NYP coverage of Obama. You won't find more anti-Obama rhetoric anywhere else. They are to Obama what the NYT is to McCain.

Why does the New York Times hate John McCain so?

Because he's a scumbag?

It took this article by Amy Silverman in the Phoenix New Times to make me sure enough about him to use such strong language.  Really, give it a read.

The NYT article, In Loose Style, McCain Leads a Camp Divided, painted a picture of a semi-chaotic organization.  That style worked for Bill Clinton because he's very bright; he could keep track of all of his staff's goings on.

It seems to have worked OK for McToast, too, for quite a while.  He also used to be very bright.  But now that he's started gradually losing his faculties, that style is a ticking time-bomb.  I hate to say it but Steve StupidSchmidt is probably just what he needs right now.

Anyway, it doesn't matter.  He's toast.

Bush is just a puppet head at the mercy of Karl's ideas,Mccain would be the same.Wouldn't know what the hell is going on.Remember this is the watergate party, thet're used to sliming around behind the Presidents back.
