McCain "Surprise ad" is disgusting
Here sits McCain, in a darkened room, pretending to be gracious to Obama on this historic night. He almost pulls it off, but the look on his face and in his eyes betrays him. It's disgusting, and pretty obvious to me that he doesn't mean a single word of what he's saying.

I agree about the look on his face and the sarcastic tone. And also that it may be his most disgusting ad yet. Sort of like saying, nice job a a black man. (You do all remember he's black, right? )

It's a job idea, but also smacks of a kind of desperation given the derisive and mocking context of the rest of his ad campaign.
A moment of class does not detract from the basic dishonorable and dishonest tack he has chosen. "Congratulations today,my friend, but tomorrow is why do you hate America so much you exotic vaguely un-american empty celebrity who thinks Iran would be a nice place to take the family on a vacation day"

Wow. You guys are the most cynical group of lefties I've ever seen.
It's true that McCain has lost whatever of his dignity was left throughout the course of this campaign, and surely the ad was meant to boost his positives, but he seemed honest enough to me, and it wasn't sarcastic or backhanded in any way.
Sheesh! You guys sound like you're so afraid people might vote for him because of things like this, that you need to cast anything and everything he does as evil and cynical.
He's not evil, he's just got bad policies, a negative campaign, and no convictions. That doesn't mean he can't stick his head up and try to do something nice once in a while, even if it has a little ulterior motive. It doesn't hurt Obama, and maybe it helps him a little. Good for him.
none of us cry fowl when Democrats start every attack speech with the hollow preamble of "I honor his service and sacrifice, but..." do we?
Get over yourselves.

oh come ON, at least we have the preamble you mention. McCain has repeatedly called Obama a traitor (not in those words, but it may as well have been) and said he's not ready to lead.
Why congratulate someone who isn't ready to lead? It's like congratulating someone on going to the Olympic trials but then telling everyone behind his back that he has no chance of making the actual team.
Clearly this is a political stunt, and I don't think any Obama supporters are going to magically fall under McCain's spell. Obama's ready to take it from here and he'll kick McCain's ass all the way back to Sedona. Or San Diego. Or Arlington. Or....ah, shit, I digress

His continuous ads full of half-truths makes this ad so deplorable. But I had to look at it a second time, I think the lighting does a much better job at implying a two-faced message. One half of his face is lighted and the other in the shadows. I'm troubled if that was intentional as I can't see how the dramatic effect would benefit McCain.

More despicable McCain claptrap.
Obama should cut an ad for McCain's birthday tomorrow with a huge sheet cake with 72 burning candles on it - and have the flames set fire to a nearby curtain.......
'Happy Birthday, John.. Congratulations on reaching the median life expectancy age for males in this country.........

John McCain is a creep. No way is this a positive ad. It is code, racist code. Well done, Obama on "this historic day." What historic day? The 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech. Translation: Calling all racists, he's nothing but a n*gger in a suit, don't be taken in by his smooth oratory.
Now, everybody can say I'm being unfair to take the single generous ad McCain has put out in a month and call it a negative subliminal piece of crap. But I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
