The Responsiblity of Healthcare Passed On

some people are saying we should hand over the issue of healthcare to one of the Democratic candidates who will shortly be dropping out (i just cannot remember their name). but if my spotty memory on this subject is correct, the last time we gave a sole person the responsibility of moving healthcare forward they compartmentalized and manipulated information, ignored or subverted experts or more experienced legislators, picked people with loyalty and the ability to keep a secret over people who are competent, and squandered their public wellspring of support.

if i could just remember that person's name; or if they were still making the same mistakes...

I think Hillary may be the most qualified person in America to push this forward. She's learned a lot from her mistakes, she's been humbled by her loss, and she has acquired a temper and a depth that she previously lacked. I think she'll be a strong advocate for universal health care, and I think she'll steer well clear of her past mistakes. Obama needs to give her a prominent position in his administration, but NOT vice president. I'm among those who believe that her talents would be totally wasted if she were his VP choice.

I think someone's spoofing the killer rabbit...

Unkind but fair.
Still, this would be a chance for her to restore her political standing, so badly damaged by her ill-conceived campaign.
If she wants it, I'd give her the task.

On the contrary: Hillary should be placed in a secondary, advisor role -- maybe. She should not be given the job of leading it. Besides, she never did answer clearly the "mandate" issue.

She has not be effective in the Senate, nor has this recent campaign shown she has the ability to play the part of a master politician -- and that is what is required.

Here's my test of Hillary's true commitment to health care issues: can she work behind the scenes and not bask in the limelight to form and craft policy. If she can't, then this was about her own aggrandizement all along.

By the way, Obama doesn't have to do a thing for Hillary. Another myth.
