We can do this all weekend!

Vote for me! I'm white!
I'm not like that other guy!
Mr. Half-and-half!

I am no bigot.
All I do is tell the truth.
More white votes than black.

Please count ALL the votes.
'Cept the ones from caucus states
Or those pesky blacks!

vote for me. I will Unify. I will unify my race by radical hate mongering on AA radios.
I will saturate the web with hate mongering toward Hillary Clinton.
This will unify my race, and college kids too lazy to take the
time to research how very little I have done in 46 years, and
how hard HRC has worked for legislation such as the recent
child car safety act.
But if your child dies a bloody death in a car accident because HRC had never worked on that bill, what do we care.
Obama is smooth.
And smoothness is good.

I can't write haiku.
I just spew some rambling bile
That nobody reads.

No, no . . . it has to feel like a haiku.

They get taught in elementary school as just 5 - 7 - 5.

But a haiku should have a sense of stillness, and an extremely quiet moment of insight. Often a seasonal reference as well.

Mario's example was excellent. Mine will suck, but it's an effort to push us back toward the necessary pathos

Fall of ninety-two:
Your headband stood for candor.
Put it on again.

This did have that sublime quality that beauty needs-- strangeness.

Alex:

Don't get all Postmodern on us! :)

Clinton 'Living Tree'....
See the White buds sprout and bloom...
As the Brown leaves fall....

Gave so much, but took
All. Power is not taken.
Time for them to go.

I'm with Alex. There's gotta be a broken heart in there somewhere, or it ain't a Clinton-broken-heart-haiku.

Discarded photo:
Proud, next to George McGovern
A wide smile, glasses.

A young girl's ideals
Sold to feed her vanity
In November snows.

The discarded photo is very nice.

Sorry. Make that

A young girl's ideals,
Sold to feed her vanity
In New Hampshire snows.

Ask any river;
Life moves forward, not backward.
Leaves fall down, not up.

Agrippina - Very nice. Naturalistic.

Like a falling leaf
Caught between past and present,
Praying for a gust.

Bookies, place your bets.

It takes a village
But only one Hillary
To slice hope in two

Apologies DaddyD. Didn't see your first line til after I posted... Not trying to plagiarize. :)

That's OK. I'm an Obamabot - I love plagiarism!

Early blooming rose.....
Wilts under the winds of war........
Only thorns remain

Eminence front walks
The path narrows around her
Darkened sky descends

War from sea to sea
Blinded to the real struggle
Eviscerated

Let go of the wheel;
Our designated driver
Steers back for your soul.

Excellent, excellent haiku efforts! It is a nice change to see our opinions and perspectives expressed in poetry. Seems to allow us a much needed break from the heat of the "battle."

Herbendorf:

Perhaps you should look up the definition of 'haiku'.

None of yours qualify. :)

Haiku syllables....
Number five, seven, then five.......
Otherwise they fail.

What a wonderful thread. I so appreciate all the creative Ha-i-ku (three syllables in Japanese). But "real" poetry doesn't have to confine itself to ephemeral, ineffable Zen emptiness. It can also handle proper polemics when the need arises. Like when Deputy Dubya Bush finally made it to Vietnam (too late for the fighting and dying, of course) only to insult his hosts by informing them that they should not have won their independence from our bloody bungling in their country over many decades. This Vietnam Veteran took that obtuse performance poorly and wrote:

"Hanoi Haiku"

In Hanoi at last
Red-carpet in return for
Our carpet-bombing

The words no one heard,
Due so many years after:
"We apologize"

Deputy Dubya
Sheriff Cheney's Barney Fife
Lost in Mayberry

Gullible Goofy
The boy who cried Wolfowitz
Far too many times

Emerald City
Naked ruler's brand new clothes
Viewed through glasses green

Mission Accomplished!
A cakewalk in its last throes
Now a glacier race

Four Years an "instant"
Nothing happens right away
What did you expect?

Broken-egg omelets
George Orwell's Catastrophic
Gradualism

Shop till the troops drop
Buy a plane ticket or two
Your part in the "war"

Rob the future now
They will never break our will
Those grandkids of ours

Lecture the victors
About their First and Second
Indochina Wars

Where did we get him?
How come we can't do better?
We look so stupid

Michael Murry, "The Misfortune Teller," Copyright 2006

I took some liberties with the syllable structure in the last line:

Cherry blossoms fall In gentle morning breezes; Oh, just face reality and fucking withdraw already Hillary, you're starting to look pathetic.

D'oh. Stupid formatting.

An edit function

Would be oh so very nice

Bad formatting sucks.

That's excellent news
Idiotic would tell us.
It's new every time.

Cherry blossoms bloom
Soon, they will wither and fade
Each thing in its time

Hoping for the rain
To dash his hopeful dreaming
Tears fall from your eyes

Winds sweep the spring sky
Petals swirl in small eddies
There were better days

This one's for the other Clinton:

White hair, charming smile
He winks at the audience
Dogwhistles to race

Last fall there were rules
Hillary agreed to them
she likes change now too.

Shouldn't forget Chelsea!

------------------------

You seem seasonless
lost surrogate, eyes trailing
the mother you aren't

What questions whisper
in cold calculating rooms
do you know elsewhere?

Here's an offering from an American in Tokyo, with a koan tossed in:

Spring stage, winter play
Sound of one hand clapping
Clinton's curtain call

The vacuum of space
A perfect Zen emptiness
Kind of hard to breathe

But not to worry
Bad things must pass in due time

Rainy Mother's Day

Pirate Pete sent me a haiku in a bottle:

ARGH! FULL SPEED AHEAD
WENCH HILLARY SOMETHING SOMETHING
ACQUIRE! DESIRE! MERGE! MARAUD!

How about if you turn all that hatred toward McCain where it will help instead of hurt?

user-pic

How about your candidate drop out so we can turn all of our energies toward McCain?

Because the odds of McCain being president are lower than Hillary's. Think about it.

Does hate ever work?

That's pretty hilarious coming from a troglodyte like you. Why aren't you still posting the Limbaugh/Rove troll bs?

A chance to denounce
Democrats playing around?
It's Otto-matic.

The Ottomaton
under rock it dwells
tightly its eyes shut

Correction

The Ottomaton
under rock is domicile
tightly its eyes shut

No hatred from me
Just sorrow for the Clintons
Open eyes, and see!

Her lips fall silent
She hopes no one can hear now
Her heart is breaking

And For Mr F (who does not seem to appreciate bloggers poetry):

In the blank white square
He types "I am hurt and mad,
hate you", - Otto F.

Crown Royal at night.
Up waiting at 3 a.m.
At new dawn, no crown.

Perfect, as a haiku should be. (And totally hilarious!) Thank you!

Something about McCain? Okay --

Me, McCain, we drink
Together crossed the threshhold
Oops! Now we're OUTside.

dream lost. Now we'll bicker in

The 'Bounce' Hillary Haiku

Monster, it's bounce time
your campaign was nothing but slime
crushed, you wreak of brine

i'll stay in the race
till you come to your senses

Poor silly Clinton
Millions spent, arrogance bent
like a creased pantsuit

There is no kind way

without biting ass
