The REAL Sinbad Speaks (with apologies to our Real Sinbad)

And he's still hilarious.  See below for excerpt and link:

In an interview with the Sleuth Monday, he said the "scariest" part of the trip was wondering where he'd eat next. "I think the only 'red-phone' moment was: 'Do we eat here or at the next place.'"

Sinbad is getting a tough go of things around here and in the media, but I've met him and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with him for an interview some years back. He was a genuinely funny and engaging man, and I'm sure he probably still is... I wouldn't put him in the pantheon of great comedians or anything, but he was damned funny and could riff on current events without being mean-spirited. He will make a fine President regardless of whether he picks Hillary or Barack. Or perhaps he will shock us all and pick Vince Vaughn or Joe Rogan...

Oh Sinbad, you're still funny. Kinda.

Okay, THAT was funny.

I too have met Sinbad and found him to be a wonderful person. After feeding a homeless man, a mounted police officer tried to arrest the man for begging from us. Sinbad happened to be there as his kids were wanting to pet the officer's horse. While our reasoning with the officer had no appeal, Sinbad worked his magic and talked the cop out of making the arrest.

Best:

"In her Iowa stump speech, Clinton also said, "We used to say in the White House that if a place is too dangerous, too small or too poor, send the First Lady."

Say what? As Sinbad put it: "What kind of president would say, 'Hey, man, I can't go 'cause I might get shot so I'm going to send my wife...oh, and take a guitar player and a comedian with you.'""

Too stinking funny. That would be a great Keith Olbermann moment for his show. Hey, do you think Sinbad would appear? Keith has had that dope from talk soup on. Sinbad is way better. Somebody get MSNBC on the phone!

Hey all, I can only speak for myself, but I just want to say I really, truly have nothing but respect for Sinbad.

I am not the fictional Sinbad (though he also posted this story in the blogs, and was much, much, much funnier):

I honestly think the fake Sinbad's homage is highly respectful, too. It's more about comedically poking holes in this whole "Commander-in-Chief treshold" stupidity than it is about bagging on the real Sinbad. And if you read the WaPo article, the real Sinbad is obviously STILL HILARIOUS.
