NAFTAGATE - Hi from Canada - been following the primaries every day - have no political investment as a Canadian - but it's necessary to say that you cannot trust what the Cdn Prime Minister, Steven Harper, says about the NAFTA issue. Senior political mandarins in consulates simply do not lie or misrepresent the substance of a meeting of this importance unless they they are hoping and praying to get fired. Don't forget, that if this hadn't been leaked, no one would ever have known anything about it other than the Prime Minister's office here in Canada and Obama's campaign.

There are those of us who believe that our Prime Minister (Conservative - your Republican) wouldn't hesitate to interfere in your election if it gives a hand up to John McCain. After all, this is the Prime Minster who is implicated in a scandal here in which he has been forced to admit that representatives of his party offered a Member of Parliament 'financial considerations in his next election campaign' to vote against a Liberal bill which would have brought the then Liberal government down. The thing is that this Member of Parliament was dying of skin cancer at the time and would not and did not live to run for election again, a fact well known at the time of the 'offer'. His family says that the Conservatives actually offered him a $1 million life insurance policy if he voted with the Conservatives against the government.
