It's Been Fun: My Last Blog on TPM

Being new to this blogging thing, but not new to caring about where our country is moving, I found TPM to be an awesome site to follow blow by blow political action and news.

And only recently did I try my hand and fingers at blogging-ever..

So thanks Josh and Mr Sargent for the chance to experience this.

My goal in my illustrious (what two weeks?) career as a blogger was simple:  Prevent a political tragedy masquerading as a political renaissance, from overwhelming the hopes and efforts of so many of my like minded political friends.

But since blogging is more than just throwing words around at the local bucks, I don’t have the time to make this a higher priority than it needs be.

Besides, there are so many others who can say and support my points better than myself.

In my lack of experience in the blogosphere, I suspect suggesting this final site might be a Hatfield McCoy thing, but it doesn’t matter, I don’t think most Obama supporters on this TPM site/blog have the guts or intellectual honesty to really listen to the honest criticism of their appointed king.

 Including Josh.

But if you do, check this out: http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/3/24/213029/144

And all the best- see you on the other side of November.

Let me speak for everyone when I say: "please explain the link you are linking to."

It's been real.

Alter: "...but it doesn’t matter, I don’t think..."

yeah, perhaps so ...

not content with impugning only the rival candidate, you strike out at his supporters with much the same kind of consideration and wisdom.

no wonder you can't take it here any more, having really *lost it*.

Wow, thanks for the mydd diatribe full of honest criticisms. I'm glad that I now know that Obama came into politics "through the famously corrupt Chicago political machine." If only I had known this sooner. Thanks for doing the hard work of really digging through the mess and sifting this out for us. It's too bad we won't hear from you again. This sort of hard-hitting, sooth-saying is exactly what's been missing here.

I don’t think most Obama supporters on this TPM site/blog have the guts or intellectual honesty to really listen to the honest criticism of their appointed king.

I find this argument, which we see all the time here, falls flat, simply because, using the linked-to MyDD post as an example, your candidate has similar problems which, presumably, you're either ignoring (which puts you squarely in the "don't have the guts or intellectual honesty" camp), or you just haven't done your homework (which puts you very close to the "don't have the guts or intellectual honesty" camp).

So, I read this, and basically go, "what's your point?"

There doesn't seem to be one.

Another dishonest politicant raging against Barack. The other dishonest folks said he wasn't vetted or tested or tried.

Well, it takes these dishonest types to provide enough of what it takes to have him thoroughly vetted and hence pass that all important test to cross the threshold.

Yet another dishonest politicant.

Nice, really went out classy

Goodbye.

Alter, the truth you perhaps aren't seeing is that an entire page of claims and links could be written about Clinton...and, hold on to your hat!...your man McCain. In fact, I daresay such a page could be written about you and me.

I don't think any of us here are blind to these kinds of arguments against Obama. The key for us is how he handles the lobs. So far, he seems to be doing pretty well. I think he's got it in him to do even better as the weeks roll on. He can be quite formidable, which is another reason we like the guy a lot.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with an opposing view or your support of McCain. But I hope your view of the GOP's prospects this fall aren't too rosy, either. Stay tuned!

"...their appointed king."

What is it about the Clinton people that you think the way to persuade others to see your point of view is to be derisive and insulting?

I'm completely sick of the baby-boomer point of view that they know what's best for everyone, and if we don't agree there's something wrong with us.

It's long past time for a fresh start in Washington, and Hillary is not offering a fresh start. She's relishing an opportunity to fight the old fights again. Fuck that.

Well said Dana.

The kool-aid accusations are tired. I'm going into this with my eyes open. The list on Mydd is nothing I haven't heard before. Some of it is accurate, some not. And as Dana pointed out, Clinton and McCain aren't perfect either. We make the best choice we can with the information we have, and there's a risk associated with supporting ANY of the candidates. We have no sure thing. Neither did the Republicans. That's the point of an election.

"I don’t think most Obama supporters on this TPM site/blog have the guts or intellectual honesty to really listen to the honest criticism of their appointed king."

I can understand how it might be lonely for Hillary supporters here, since there's a fair amount of criticism of her campaign.

But I don't see a lack of willingness to debate the issues or a blind following of Obama at all. People are for the most part debating the issues and candidates quite critically. I think the strong arguments should win and hoep they will.

So, no I don't agree wih your assessment.

You have truly inspired me so here I go:

Goodbye All:

I came to blogging recently with a noble goal - to be a part of the political process.

This noble calling led me to point out that you are all ignorant fools, idiots, and probably suffer from some sort of brain disorder. This is obvious to me because your candidate has horns (see links to scientific papers), cloven hooves (see picture), and a forked tongue (no picture, but trust me).

I thought by honestly pointing this out you would come to agree with me. But you didn't (yet more proof you have a brain disorder). So I must leave you now as you need greater care than I can possibly offer.

Signed,

Your friend, bringer of fire to the cave-dwelling masses, keeper of the wisdom, great font of knowledge.
