Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton led the small Democratic field by a wide margin leading up to the party’s first presidential debate in the Suffolk University/USA Today Poll released Thursday.

Clinton polled at 41 percent of likely national Democratic voters while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) polled 23 percent and Vice President Joe Biden polled at 20 percent.

Fourteen percent of voters were undecided while all the other candidates together polled at 2 percent. Despite the low numbers, all candidates have been extended invitations to the debate, hosted by CNN on Oct. 13.

The poll was conducted from Sept. 24 to 28 by live phone calls among 1,000 voters, 430 of whom were Democratic voters likely to vote in 2016. The overall margin of error was 3 points and the margin of error among Democrats was 4.7 points.
