Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has opened up an eight-point lead over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary in New Hampshire, according to an Emerson College Polling Society poll released Wednesday.

The poll showed support for Sanders at 52 percent, while Clinton stood at 44 percent. This poll is the first ECPS survey of New Hampshire voters in the 2016 cycle, but the results are consistent with the majority of New Hampshire polling, which has shown Sanders pulling further ahead of Clinton since December.

The ECPS poll was conducted from Jan. 25-26. An automated phone program surveyed 350 likely Democratic voters, with a margin of error of 5.2 percentage points.
