Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is leading in South Carolina among Republican primary voters, but by a much smaller margin than in a poll by the same firm two months ago, according to a poll released Monday.

The Public Policy Polling survey showed Trump at 25 percent, retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson at 21 percent, and Sen. Ted Cruz (TX) at 15.

In a September poll of the state by PPP, Trump had 37 percent support while Carson had 21 percent, and Cruz had 6 percent.

Sen. Marco Rubio (FL) also had a significant increase from September, going from 4 percent to 13 percent in the poll.

The poll was conducted by phone interviews and online among 787 usual Republican primary voters on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
