Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton enjoys a 23-point lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in South Carolina, according to an Emerson College Polling Society poll released Thursday.

The poll showed support for Clinton at 60 percent, while Sanders stood at 37 percent. This is the first Emerson poll fielded in the Palmetto State, but it is consistent with other polling showing Clinton enjoying a comfortable lead there just a few days before the state’s Democratic primary.

TPM’s PollTracker Average shows Clinton at 57.8 percent and Sanders at 32.9 percent.

The Emerson poll was carried out using an automated telephone program. Pollsters surveyed 266 likely Democratic voters from Feb. 22-24, with a margin of error of 6 percentage points.
