We’ve been hearing a lot this week from former FEMA director Michael Brown. Too much, as far as Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) is concerned.

Landrieu had this to say of Brown, in an interview with Politico:

He was a fool when he stepped off the plane in Louisiana 4½ years ago, and unfortunately for him, he apparently still is.

Brown’s been making the media rounds this week, in part to pump sales of his new book, which will be released this summer. “There’s that phrase, ‘Any publicity is good publicity'” Brown told Politico. “I kind of buy into that.”

In that case…

On Monday, he suggested on Fox News that President Obama wanted the Gulf Coast oil spill to happen because “this president has never supported big oil, he’s never supported offshore drilling, and now he has an excuse to shut it back down.”

The next day, Chris Matthews told Brown his theory sounded “insane” and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs ripped Fox over the interview. Brown then went on CNN later that night and continued pushing his theory.

We’ll be watching his book sales…
