Rep. Steve King (R-IA) defended Joe Barton’s comments on the $20 billion BP Gulf spill fund today, saying he thinks Barton was “spot-on” when he called it “a shakedown.”

On Laura Ingraham’s show, King defended Barton’s (R-TX) comment that the fund created by the Obama Administration to force BP to pay for damages caused by the Gulf oil spill is “a $20 billion shakedown.”

“I think Joe Barton was spot-on when he called it a shakedown,” said King.

Though several Republican leaders have condemned Barton’s remarks (even Barton has walked back his apology), King was adamant that Barton was correct: “That’s part of this Administration’s process.”
