Spirit Airlines: We’re Sorry You’re Offended

Spirit Airlines is so sorry that you “misunderstood” the intentions behind its new, sexist and offensive ad campaign. I mean, what were you thinking?

Just because it features destinations unaffected by the Gulf Oil spill, puns about BP that aren’t really funny and scantily-clad models covered in oil doesn’t mean they were trying to profit off of a tragedy! They said:

We are merely addressing the false perception that we have oil on our beaches, and we are encouraging customers to support Florida and our other beach destinations by continuing to travel to these vacation hot spots.

And, in the course of their apology, they repeat their joke about how the only oil on their beaches is “sun tan oil.” Because, really, it’s all your fault for being offended by their jokes. Just because oil is killing entire ecosystems, ruining large bodies of water and killing off the tourist potential for other areas of this country doesn’t mean you should be offended.
