Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) had some choice words for his former party on MSNBC today, saying of the Republican Party that “it’s a different party than the one Barry Goldwater was in or the one Arlen Specter was in.”
I think it is most unfortunate. It reflects the pattern of partisanship, really excessive partisanship.
Of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who’s partnering with Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) on a climate change bill, Specter said, “if there were more like Lindsay Graham, we’d have the good old days like when I came here, when there were moderate senators.”
Then, Specter said, “you could be pro-choice and still be a Republican.”
