Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA), who won the Democratic Senate primary in Pennsylvania against Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) last night, said today that though Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA) had said he doesn’t think Sestak can win the general election, “his predictions haven’t been too accurate this past year on this election.”

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Sestak was asked about Rendell’s comment that Specter would be better positioned to defeat Republican Pat Toomey in the general election, and that though Rendell and the Democratic establishment will support Sestak, it wouldn’t be with “the same love and affection for Arlen.”

Sestak replied that Rendell’s “predictions haven’t been too accurate this past year on this election.”

Despite this, Sestak added that when Rendell beat out Bob Casey for Governor, the two sat and had a “Rendelli sandwich” at a local WaWa.

“Let’s recreate that and have it together, Ed,” said Sestak.

Sestak also said that his primary win was about “a real issue of trust,” and “at times you have to stand up to your own party establishment.”
