The letter urging the Senate to use reconciliation to pass the public option has been slowly growing, but several senators are telling us today they won’t be signing on.
A spokesman for freshman Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) told TPM today the senator won’t sign the letter.
“At the moment he is focused on our economic recovery and congressional action on jobs and job creation,” the aide said.
An aide to Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) told us today that he’s been out of the country and “at this point” hasn’t signed the letter. Cardin supports both the public option and using reconciliation, the aide said.
We reported earlier that Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a big public option supporter, also won’t sign the letter.
