RNC spokesman Doug Heye responded to the arrest of former Floirda GOP Chairman Jim Greer, saying in a statement to CNN that donors “have a right to know that that their hard earned money is being used, as they expect, to elect candidates who stand for their principles.”
Greer was charged with six felony counts yesterday, including grand theft and money laundering. Heye called the accusations “unacceptable.”
Still, Heye couldn’t resist taking a shot at Democrats, even when addressing a scandal within his own party: “Sweetheart deals and personal enrichment are every bit as unacceptable as the offering of political appointments to keep Democratic candidates out of primaries.”
