The New York Times reports that CNN’s anti-immigration anchor Lou Dobbs is leaving the network. Dobbs is reportedly set to announce his departure on his 7 p.m. show tonight — which will be his last at the network.

The Times reports:

His resignation is effective immediately; tonight’s program will be his last on CNN. His contract was not set to expire until the end of 2011.

There has been speculation for weeks that Dobbs might leave CNN — perhaps for the Fox Business Network.

Last month, Dobbs made the news when he blamed “ethnocentric interest groups” for a gunshot fired outside his New Jersey home. As we reported, it turns out that shot may have been little more than a hunter’s errant bullet.
