A Bloomberg poll released today finds that Jon Stewart is more popular among Americans than Lou Dobbs, a result that may further damper Dobbs’ hopes to run for higher office.

The poll finds that 34% of Americans have a favorable view of Jon Stewart, while only 17% have an unfavorable view. Dobbs ratings come in at 27% favorable and 23% unfavorable.

When divided along party lines, Dobbs does slightly better, with 31% of Republicans holding a positive view of him, as opposed to 23% of Democrats. For Stewart,
46% of Democrats view him favorably, compared to 18% of Republicans.

These figures represent just one more potential setback for Dobbs, who recently saw his political aspirations dampened when anti-immigration group ALIPAC withdrew its support for any Dobbs candidacy.

Dobbs and Stewart have squared off before. Most recently, Stewart called Dobbs’ views “abhorrent and wrong” on an episode of The Daily Show. The full segment can be seen here.
