Vice President Mike Pence addressed President Trump’s claims that a previous president told him he wanted a border wall — even though all four living presidents have denied that’s the case — claiming that it was just Trump’s “impression” that his predecessors supported a wall.
“I know the President has said that was his impression from previous administrations, previous presidents,” he told the “Today” show. “I know I’ve seen clips of previous presidents talking about the importance of border security, the importance of addressing the issue of illegal immigration–”
“That’s different than telling the President, though, right?” NBC’s Hallie Jackson asked.
“Honestly, you know, the American people want us to address this issue,” he said.
“Which former presidents told President Trump, as he said, that he should’ve built a wall? All their representatives have denied that that was the case.” @halliejackson to @VP Mike Pence pic.twitter.com/7xAH05aheE
