In an interview with MSNBC broadcast this afternoon, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she may one day address the “put her in her place” remarks made by a Republican group.

“It’s so old, it’s so tired, it’s so ridiculous,” Pelosi said. “Poor babies.”

Earlier this month, the National Republican Congressional Committee said of Pelosi that Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, should “put her in her place.” The remark caused outrage among some women, including those in Congress. The group has not backed away from the statement.

But Pelosi isn’t impressed.

“The point of some of the barbs that are thrown my way are to get me to turn away from what I’m doing to respond. And I just leave that behind and stay on the path,” she said in the MSNBC interview.

“But when I’m finished with some of the major issues, I think the statement, ‘Put her in her place,’ is something — it doesn’t offend me, I’m the speaker of the House. But what that means to women, it’s really quite offensive,” she said. “So I may address that issue at a later time.”

For the most part, though, she ignores such attacks.

“It doesn’t bother me. I’m here to do a job,” she said. “I really can’t be bothered … I’m practically oblivious to what they say. That which I know about is really their problem, not mine.”
