Appearing on Fox News yesterday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin suggested that Rand Paul had been the victim of “gotcha” journalism — the kind of journalistic tactics Palin believes have been used against her.
“One thing we can learn in this lesson that I have learned, and Rand Paul is learning now, is don’t assume that you can engage in a hypothetical discussion about constitutional impacts with a reporter or a media personality who has an agenda, who may be prejudiced before they even get into the interview in regards to what your answer may be,” Palin told host Chris Wallace. “You know, they are looking for the gotcha moment. And that what evidently appears to be what they did with Rand Paul.”
Paul’s interview last week with Rachel Maddow — in which he defended past criticism of part of the Civil Rights Act — sparked a wildfire of political hits against the KY-SEN GOP candidate, who later canceled a Sunday appearance on Meet The Press.
