WASHINGTON (AP) — A White House official says President Barack Obama will name Julia Pierson as the first female director of the Secret Service.
Pierson currently is chief of staff of the agency, which investigates financial crimes and is responsible for protecting the president and his family.
Obama was expected to announce the appointment Tuesday at the White House. Pierson does not need to be confirmed by the Senate.
