In an interview taped yesterday, President Barack Obama told Larry King that he’s “furious” about the Gulf Coast oil spill.

“I am furious at this entire situation,” he said. “Somebody didn’t think through the consequences of their actions and it is imperiling not just a handful of people. This is imperiling an entire way of life and an entire region for potentially years.”

Has BP felt his anger?

“They have felt the anger,” he said.

I would love to just spend a lot of my time venting and yelling at people. But that’s not the job I was hired to do. My job is to solve this problem.

“This isn’t about me and how angry I am. It’s about the people down in the Gulf and how they were impacted.”

The president said that it’s BP that caused the spill — and that it’s on them to pay for the cleanup and other damages. Obama’s job, he said, is “to make sure that they are being held accountable.”

More of the interview will air tonight on Larry King Live.
