Two-family New York Republican Vito Fossella will reportedly not run for his old NY-13 House seat, despite his nomination last week by the Staten Island GOP executive committee.

Fossella ended his re-election campaign in 2008 after a DUI and revelations that he had a child with a woman who was not his wife.

According to Politico, Fossella said today that he is “deeply humbled” by the nomination and “that they thought I was the best Republican to run.”

He will be holding a press conference this afternoon to make his announcement official.

Late Update: Fossella said at the presser:

I am frankly at a very good place in my life. I am where I need to be and where I want to be, most importantly. And as a result I’ve indicated to the chairman of the party that I would not seek election to Congress this year.
