RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina’s governor announced a $5,000 reward offer Wednesday in hopes of solving the case of last weekend’s firebombing of a local Republican office.

Gov. Pat McCrory said the offer by the state is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the attack on the Orange County GOP headquarters in Hillsborough. He urged anyone with tips to contact the state’s top law enforcement agency.

The firebombing was reported Sunday morning by Orange County authorities, who said no one was injured. They said a bottle containing a flammable liquid was thrown through the window, heavily damaging the interior before burning out. The attack prompted condemnations from candidates of both major parties at state and national levels.

Separately Wednesday, Republicans said one of their county headquarters offices in eastern North Carolina had been shot at twice with BB guns in the past three weeks. Pamlico County GOP Chairman Dave Wickersham said no volunteers were in the office either time and no one was hurt in the attacks, which targeted the front windows. He said security was tightened and the office remains open to the public.
