The Mall of America apologized to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin today for accidentally leaking internal notes saying only English-speaking reporters were allowed at a stop on her book tour.

The Mall had sent the notes, which also directed reporters to address Palin as “Governor,” to the Associated Press.

“I personally would like to apologize to Gov. Palin and anyone connected to the book tour because absolutely this was an issue on our end,” said Dan Jasper, a spokesman for the mall.

“It was just a poorly worded statement sent out by mistake,” he said, adding, “All media are welcome at any time.”

Palin’s publisher, HarperCollins, is not happy.

“That should never have been in any kind of press release,” Tina Andreadis, a publicist for HarperCollins, told the Minnesota Star-Tribune. “That’s not the message the governor wants to send out.”
