Lt. Dan Choi has been arrested after handcuffing himself to a White House fence to protest the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
Choi, who is an outspoken opponent of the military’s ban on gays, led a group of about 100 protesters in Washington D.C. Among them was former Army infantryman James Pietrangelo, who was also arrested.
Choi had been at a Human Rights Campaign rally, and announced to the crowd that he was going to the White House to chain himself to the gates. He then apparently asked the HRC head, and comedian Kathy Griffin, to come with him.
According to reports, the protesters recited the Pledge of Allegiance and chanted slogans to repeal the policy.
