Liz Cheney was asked on Fox News a few moments ago about a comment she made on Sunday that seemed to suggest that her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, should run for president in 2012.

Appearing as a guest panelist on Fox News Sunday, Liz Cheney said after video of President Obama bowing to the Japanese emperor was compared to her stiff-backed father meeting the emperor in 2007 that “You could also look at the comparison and think, Cheney 2012.”

Neil Cavuto asked Liz Cheney on Fox today what, exactly, she had meant.

“Were you saying your dad should run for president in 2012?”

Her reply:

Well, Neil, I have to tell you, he’s my candidate. But I have yet to get him on board with the concept.

“I was freelancing,” she said. “But he remains my candidate.”

That doesn’t mean no Cheneys will run for office. Cavuto asked Liz Cheney if she would run in the future.

She said for the time being she’s focused on her PAC Keep America Safe, but that “we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Late Update: Here’s the video.
