Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) said today he 1,200 members of the National Guard that the President has committed to sending to the Arizona border will be helpful in securing it — but that those people are “going to have desk jobs apparently.”
Yesterday, President Obama announced a plan to send up to 1200 National Guard troops to the Mexico-Arizona border.
On Fox News today, Kyl said that the people Obama “is potentially committing here are not going to actually be National Guard on the border,” and that Kyl’s “understanding” is that they will simply fill office positions.
“While anything they do there is helpful, the reality is if they’re on border they make a huge difference,” said Kyl.
