Jon Stewart on Tuesday set his sights on President Obama’s reelection campaign, which took the president to the West Coast this week.
At a fundraiser at the House of Blues in Hollywood, a heckler called Obama the “antichrist” before quickly being escorted out of the event.
“This is the trouble with these Hollywood events,” he said, “there is always a chance that Mel Gibson is going to show up.”
Moreover, Stewart saw the heckling as a sign of economic recovery. “How bad can the economy be when a nut can spend $250 just to yell shit at the president?” he asked. “Unless the president’s using his falling poll numbers to fundraise. Yeah, for $250 come, you can yell stuff at him. For $500 you can give him the classic ‘sike’ handshake. For $2,500 maybe he’ll take a picture with you holding his fake birth certificate.”
