Discussing a New York Times/CBS News poll showing that “Tea Party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public,” former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said on Fox News last night that “these are thoughtful, intelligent, well-read, educated people.”
It is an interesting sort of blowback to the position that this is essentially a movement of very ignorant people who just don’t know any better. No, these are people that passed civics in the 9th grade. And I think what makes them so angry at Congress — they’re not sure Congress has ever read the Constitution.
Huckabee continued: “These are thoughtful, intelligent, well-read, educated people. They’re not folks out there that are just stirred up out of their emotion. They’re stirred up out of their intellect.”
