On MSNBC today, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) shed some light on the real reason the Democrats are pushing a public option: The more people who depend on the federal government, the more constituents the Democrats will have.
Hatch said that by creating such a “massive” government program like the public option, “you’re reaching a point where there’s a level line where the middle and lower classes don’t have any chance to break through, which has always been one of the great benefits of being an American, you can break through and you can become wealthy yourself.”
He continues that this is a “lower-middle class” that “literally has to depend upon the federal government for everything, and it creates greater constituents for Democrats. That’s what they’re after.”
“The goal of the Democrats is to push more and more people so that they’ll have 60% of people who depend upon the federal government,” Hatch said.
