At a morning press gaggle on Air Force One, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that Obama “will speak tonight about the public option and about the necessity for choice and competition, but I don’t want to make all his news now.”

“What will we do later tonight?” Gibbs then said, prompting laughter from the reporters and a response from one that they’d “do it all over again.”

The answer was prompted by a question about what Obama thinks of the “trigger” option and whether he thinks that’s a good compromise.

Gibbs also outlined Obama’s main goals for the speech before a joint session of Congress tonight: “to speak clearly to the American people about what’s in health care reform; for those that are fortunate to have insurance, to demonstrate for them that his plan will bring them security and stability; and for those that don’t have health insurance, that we’ll provide an affordable way for them to get accessible insurance.”

The President is apparently still working on the speech, and the Press Secretary said he’d be tinkering with it more this afternoon.
