Former New York state Comptroller H. Carl McCall dismissed the idea that Harold Ford, Jr. is a serious contender against Kirsten Gillibrand for Senate, saying: “Bring it on. You want to run in New York, we’re going to have to beat you in New York.”

McCall was responding to Harold Ford Jr.’s apparent decision to run against Gillibrand, saying that “I don’t think we should tell Harold Ford not to run. My position with Harold Ford is: Come on Harold, we’ll just have to beat you.”

He also said that it’s “ridiculous” that Ford has “never done anything for New York or New Yorkers,” but still thinks he can represent the state.

“He’s just going to parachute in and become our next senator because a very few rich people have gotten together and decided: Well, Harold, you should be the candidate?”

I don’t think that candidacy is going anywhere. And again, it’s not because of the bosses. I think it’s unfortunate that people are telling him not to run. I will say: Harold, Bring it on. You want to run in New York, we’re going to have to beat you in New York.

Oh it is ON.
